Questions

The things couples actually ask.

Not a list of reassurances. These are the questions that come up in real conversations, answered the way Daniel would answer them on the phone.

Ask, and then decide.

These are the questions couples actually ask, answered the way Daniel would answer them on the phone. If yours is not here, it is a good reason to get in touch.

  1. How far in advance should we book?

Most couples book somewhere between a year and eighteen months out, and Saturdays in summer go first. That said, if your date is closer than that it is always worth asking — dates do come free, and Daniel would rather tell you honestly than have you assume.

  2. Do we have to choose all the music ourselves?

No, and you should not have to. What matters is that Daniel knows the songs that mean something to you and the ones you cannot stand. Between those two lists there is a great deal of room, and reading what a particular room needs at half past ten is the part you are actually paying for.

  3. Can our guests request songs?

Yes. Requests are useful information — they tell you who is still in the room and what they want. They are used with judgement rather than played in the order they arrive, which is the difference between a dancefloor and a queue at the booth.

  4. What if there is a song we really do not want played?

It does not get played. A do-not-play list is as important as a must-play list, and there is never a discussion about it on the night.

  5. Will you talk on the microphone?

Only where it helps. Announcements are part of the job — the first dance, the cake, anything that needs the room's attention — and they are delivered clearly and briefly. Nobody wants a compère at their wedding.

  6. Our guests range from children to grandparents. Can you handle that?

That is a normal wedding, and it is the most interesting part of the work. The trick is not one long playlist that offends nobody, it is knowing when the room changes and moving with it.

  7. How long do you need to set up?

It depends on the package and the room, and it is agreed with your venue well in advance. Wherever possible everything is in place before your guests see the space — setting up in front of a room full of people is not part of the service.

  8. What happens if equipment fails?

Backup comes as standard, on every package, and it lives in the van whether or not it is ever needed. Thirty years of events is largely thirty years of things occasionally going wrong quietly and nobody in the room noticing.

  9. Do you have insurance and tested equipment?

Yes — public liability insurance and PAT-tested equipment, and your venue can be sent the paperwork directly. Most venues ask, and it is easier if that is handled before anyone chases it.

  10. Will you visit our venue?

Where it is useful, yes. Some rooms raise questions that are quicker to answer standing in them. Otherwise Daniel will speak to the venue directly and work from their information.

  11. Do you work with our other suppliers?

Regularly. Photographers, planners, bands and coordinators all need to know how the evening runs, and it is far easier when they hear it from each other rather than from you.

  12. We love what you do, but our event is not a wedding. Can you still help?

Yes — through our sister company. Weddings by Daniel Jon is only weddings, and everything else is looked after under Feel the Presha Entertainment: milestone birthdays, engagement parties, anniversaries, private celebrations and corporate events. Same equipment, same standards, same person behind the decks.

  13. What happens after we enquire?

Daniel replies himself. If your date is free the next step is a conversation, not a contract — and there is no pressure attached to having one.

Still wondering

Ask Daniel directly.

Anything specific to your venue, your guest list or your running order is better answered in a conversation than on a page.

Planning something other than a wedding?

There is another side to what we do.

Engagement parties, anniversaries, milestone birthdays, corporate events and celebrations of every other kind are looked after under our second name — the same equipment, the same standards, the same person behind the decks.
